1. How to register “Certified in Transportation and Logistics (CTL)”?
Answer:
(1)At first, candidate should become member of AST&L, please enter into http://www.astl-china.org/cn/huiyuan.html, download      membership application and fill the form.
(2)Then, enter into http://www.astl-china.org/ctl/newctl/cn/baokao.html and download the exam application and fill the form (the photo      must be in the application form).
(3)Remit the membership and exam fee to the specific account of AST&L (presented in the exam application form)
(4)Please email membership application, exam application and in-bank slip to AST&L. Email: CTL@astl-china.org

2. What documents of application materials are submitted with registration CTL?
Answer:
AST&L membership application form, CTL exam application form and relevant certifying document copy (for example, degree certification). If apply for waiver, candidates must hand in relevant certification of that module.

3. What’s time of CTL exam and how many times does candidate apply for each year?
Answer:
According to the arrangements for Examiners Board of U.S. headquarters, CTL exam is held twice every year (usually in June and December) and candidate can write a maximum of two exams each time.
The exam lasts from 9.30 am to 2.30 pm. There is NO BREAK between two exams and candidate who takes two exams will have two papers right at the beginning of the exam (9.30 am). That means candidates will decide and arrange their exam sequence by themselves.

4. Is there any sequence of studying CTL modules?
Answer:
Candidates may complete the required modules in any order, however, the Board of Examiners strongly suggests that the four modules be completes prior to the two elective modules.
According to the experience of CTL examination in US, managers in mid-level logistics industry usually spend two or three years in passing the whole six modules and the rate of passing is 60% - 70%.
Moreover the suggested sequence for the required modules is spelled out below for progressive difficulty: General management principle and techniques (GMPT), Transportation economics and management (TEM), Logistics management (LM), International transportation and logistics (ITL).  

5. In which cities candidates can take CTL exam?
Answer:
There are six exam spot in Beijing, Shanghai, Wuhan, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Hong Kong. Candidates could choose the exam spot nearby.

6. How could candidates know the time and location of CTL exam?
Answer:
The information can be found from our website http://www.astl-china.org/ctl/newctl/cn/baokao.html and updated timely. Besides, AST&L also informs candidates via telephone or email in one week before the examination.

7. How’s the training course of CTL exam?
Answer:
The training of CTL is held by AST&L authorized training centers. The course of every module is for three days. The training cost could be asked from the approved training centers.

8. Is there any difference of the certificate between taking the CTL exam in English and in Chinese? 
Answer:
No, the certificate will all be in English and be issued by AST&L Headquarter, no matter which language or country you take in the CTL exam.

9. How long is the CTL certificate available?
Answer:
The CTL certificate is available for a lifetime.

11. How about the work experience and educational requirements for taking CTL exam?
Answer:
To take the CTL exam, an individual won’t be highly required in work experience and education. After completing all modules successfully by exam or waiver within five years, candidate will be examined of working experience by AST&L before receive CTL certificate. To qualify an individual must have five years of professional experience in Transportation or Logistics; at least one year must be in a management role.

12. How much is the fee for CTL exam? Where are the textbooks sold?  
Answer:
CTL candidate is required to complete four modules of required study material, as well as two elective modules. All CTL candidates in Mainland China and Hong Kong are eligible to join at the student membership rate until completing the CTL certification (150RMB/year for residents in mainland; 230HKD/year for residents in Hong Kong)

Total Exam fee:

Mainland:the total price is 4146RMB. (The fee for each module is 740RMB, and the whole of six modules (all the six modules are not Creative Component) is 4440RMB, the candidate will get 10% off if pre-pays the entire six module fee with the price of 3996RMB, and at last added membership fee 150RMB.)

Hong Kong: the total price is 6170 HKD.   (The fee for each module is 1100HKD, and the whole of six modules (all the six modules are not Creative Component) is 6600HKD, the candidate will get 10% off if pre-pays the entire six module fee with the price of 5940HKD, and at last added membership fee 230HKD.)

Textbooks cost is not included in the exam fee for candidates buy textbooks by themselves. We will provide Study Guide to the candidate when he/she registers the exam.

13. What is the requirement of The Creative Component?
Answer:
The candidate must write an original, documented paper of 3,000 to 5,000 words in length on a special aspect of traffic, transportation, logistics or distribution management. Grading will be on a pass-fail basis. The candidate must submit the title and outline to be reviewed and approved by the Examiner. The Society will accept a copy of a candidate's thesis as a qualifying submission if it directly addresses a facet of transportation, logistics, or supply chain management. The candidate must submit the title and outline to be reviewed by the Examiner to substantiate that the paper directly relates to the thrust of AST&L research papers. Upon acceptance of the outline, the candidate then submits a copy of the actual thesis to AST&L.

14. When could candidates know the exam result?
Answer:
Candidates can be informed the result in two weeks after the exam.

4. Why do candidates must be members of AST&L before register certificates？
Answer:
In December 12th 2008, for managing of certification exam, activities and communication inside the industry, AST&L head office made a new rule that Membership is available to individuals in China and is a condition for maintaining the CTL certification. So those who not complete the whole of CTL exams should repay the membership fee and become members.
