"Shipping Dangerous Goods by Ocean" course was successfully held in Shanghai
The “Shipping Dangerous Goods by Ocean” course, offered by the Sino-US Transportation Safety Institute (TSI) was succesfully held in Shanghai on 12th-14th Novermber, 2009. The training instructor, Mr. Guo, Terry, invited by the AST&L to join this course, has many years industrial experience in transporting dangerous goods by ocean as well as by air. Students from PPG Coatings Co., Ltd., Da Jin Logistics Co., Ltd., Lonza Investments Co.,Ltd., Solutia International Trading Co., Ltd., Akzo Nobel (Asia) Co.,Ltd., York Air Conditioning and Refrigeration CO.,Ltd., RENUS Logistics Co.,Ltd., DAMCO A/S, XENA Logistics Co.,Ltd., GE Energy, LANXESS Chemical Co.,Ltd., attend the training.
During the three-day course, Mr. Guo presented a comprehensive introduction on the difference between the newly IMDG Code of 34-08 version and that of old versions. Mr. Guo also used a number of industrial cases he experienced to explain the different practices among America, Europe and China, regarding dangerous goods transportation, emergency schedule, documentation, packing and labeling. To enhance the learning, some pictures and sample models of dangerous goods transportation containers are presented to the trainees. More importantly, the learning process is built upon an interactive environment in which the trainees raised the issues they have encountered in their actual practices and Mr. Guo provided several useful advice for them.
With the improvement of efficiency and safety, shipping dangerous goods by ocean has become a prior option for many carriers. It balances the transportation volume and time, and will result in tremendous opportunities for dangerous goods related enterprises.
