China World Logistics Conference Press Conference

A press conference for the China World Logistics (CWL) Conference was held at the China Council for Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) main hall in Beijing on Nov. 15, 2008.

Senior representatives from the organizers, China Council for Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), China International Talent Exchange Foundation (CITEF), and American Society of Transportation and Logistics (ASTL) presented information about the significance of this year¡¯s conference.
Last year¡¯s logistics conference in Beijing focused on the US - China supply chain. This year the China World Logistics conference¡¯s focus has been broadened to global supply chain issues.
The conference will focus on three of the most urgent issue facing the logistics industry:

  • The global economic situation and what can Chinese logistics companies do to offset the effects
  • Building the Safe and Secure global supply chain
  • How to address China¡¯s growing logistics talent shortage

CWL will feature a speaker from McKinsey & Co. to provide insight about the US economy and its effects on the logistics industry in China. And Mr. Duane Pfund, Director, Office of International Standards, Office of Hazardous Materials Safety, US Department of Transportation will be travelling from Washington to discuss Dangerous goods transportation issues.
This annual conference receives strong support from the U.S. Department of Commerce, U.S. Department of Transportation, China Ministry of Commerce, China Ministry of Transport and Jiangsu government. Senior representatives from the fore mentioned parties will be attending the conference.
CWL is being held in newly built Nanjing International Expo Center in Nanjing, Jiangsu from Nov. 19 to 20. About 400 attendees comprising of Chinese and international logistics and manufacturing executives will attend this conference. They will have the opportunity to network with senior management from Dow, UPS, BNSF Railway, Sinotrans, Cosco, CIMC, SPIG and other leading companies.

The conference is collocated with China (Jiangsu) International Logistics Expo to further intensify its impact.
