Module 1 – Supply chain overview and emerging trends

• Overview of supply chain management evolution
• Identify and describe key supply chain processes and how supply chain management creates value for customers and investors
• Define globalization and illustrate its impact on supply chain management, and network design
• Explain the strategic importance of customer focus and the demand-driven supply chain
• Describe the characteristics of an effective supply chain – agile, adaptive and synchronized
• Explain the “bullwhip effect” and how enhanced supply chain visibility can minimize the damage
• Explain the importance, and the various forms of supply chain collaboration
• Understand the enablers of an effective supply chain
• Outline the use of metrics to guide supply chain management, including key performance indicators (KPIs), balanced scorecard, and SCOR® metrics
• Understand supply chain competitive priorities and explain the importance of each to the future direction of supply chain management
• Emerging trends – supply chain risks management and the “greening” of supply chain


Module 2 – Inventory – Assets or Liabilities?

• Explain the strategic role and importance of inventory in a supply chain
• Describe how an integrated and synchronized supply chain optimize inventory and enhance customer service
• Explain inventory as a measurement of business success and supply chain execution effectiveness
• Identify and understand the inventory drivers

Day 2



Module 3 – Inventory Profiling Model

• Explain the concept of inventory profiling model technique using inventory Days Of Supply (DOS)
• Understanding the relationship between optimum profile, plan profile and actual profile
• Identify the parameters used in inventory profiling
• Explain key inventory planning parameters
• Identify and explain optimal and non-optimal profile elements
• Describe inventory profile in the internal supply chain
• Demonstration – develop a plan profile using the Inventory Profiling Model worksheet
• Identify ownership of various profiling element – manufacturing, SCM, and Marketing (Customer Service)
• Measure the actual profile
• Identify performance gap by measuring the actual profile vs. the plan profile
• Develop strategic action plan to approach the optimum profile


Module 4 – Hands-on exercise and group discussion


      • Review pre-work data collected
      • Develop plan profile using the profiling worksheet
      • Identify improvement opportunities
      • Develop action plan
      • Group discussion and conclusion
