Beatrice Camp
U.S. Consul General

Beatrice Camp arrived in September 2008 for a three-year posting as U.S. Consul General in Shanghai.  She has previously served in Beijing, as well as at embassies in Thailand, Hungary, and Sweden.  Her most recent overseas assignment was as U.S. Consul General in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

During several Washington assignments, Ms. Camp has managed international information programs for Europe, coordinated educational exchange and advising programs worldwide, and served as U.S. Information Agency desk officer for Southeast Asia.

Before joining the Foreign Service in 1983, Ms. Camp worked as a reporter and editor in Washington and New York City.

Jie Chen
China Eastern Airline Co., Ltd.  Dangerous Goods Management Division, Manager

Ms. Chen Jie is working in the field of Safety Air Transportation of Dangerous Goods since 1996. Within the China Eastern Airline (MU), Ms. Chen Jie’s working responsibilities includes making Dangerous Goods Transport Policy, Regulations, Operation Standards and Training Standards. She is also responsible for operational auditing, safety evaluation and DG accidents/incidents investigation. Ms. Chen Jie is in charge of reviewing training and approving the qualification of service provider to MU, such as shippers, freight forwarders, ground handlers and third party testing services.

Zhengcai Chen
Senior Engineer and Director of Transportation and Safety Section of Department of Waterway Transportation

Mr. Chen Zhengcai graduated from the Shanghai Maritime University and Nankai University. He is a M.A. of Economics. Twenty years ago, he was assigned by Chinese government to Japan to study port management for one year. Throughout his career, He also as an engineer worked in Lianyungang Port for a long time. He is currently the senior engineer and director of transportation and safety section of Department of Waterway Transportation under the Ministry of transport of China. He has been applying himself to policy studying in waterway transportation and the port administration, especially in transport of dangerous goods and logistics and port management. He has himself unique views. He participated to draft out many laws and regulations on transport of dangerous goods and management of waterway transportation. He attends many times the conferences of UN Committee of experts on the transport of dangerous goods as a member of Chinese delegation.

Shelton Chan
Client Service Director,SCM of Resources Global Professionals and Vice president, Asia Pacific of The Society of International Logistics (SOLE)

Mr. Chan Currently responsible for the SCM practice in China for a U.S. based public traded company named Resources Global Professionals.
Previous As the Project Manager of Operation and finance Department of L'Oreal, Mr. Chan is responsible for the planning and implementating the new automated logistics facility in Taiwan which covers more then 3000 distribution channels.

Mr. Chan has 12 years of Asia Pacific sales and management experience, specializing in global logistics, distribution and supply chain IT solution design. Most recently, Mr. Chan was the Logistics Development Manager at Exel,Mr. Chan plays a key role in the development of the contract logistics market for high tech, automotive, Pharmaceutical, and consumer manufacturing sectors, with special focus on Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), retail, apparel, and Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industries.
He was a member of the Review Board of e-Logistics working Group funded by the Taiwan government. He currently serves as the District Director for Society of International Logistics (SOLE), Taiwan Chapter. Mr. Chan holds a Master of Science degree in international logistics from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Michael Trua
Managing Director ,PACCAR International

Michael (Mike) Trua has over 30 years experience in the commercial truck industry.  He is presently Managing Director for PACCAR China, residing in Beijing with his family. Previously, he held executive positions responsible for North America aftermarket parts and truck sales and marketing.  In addition to China, he has resided abroad in Japan and the Middle East.  Mike introduced dealer development and management consulting to PACCAR overseas markets, and initiated truck assembly programs in South Africa and Taiwan.  He was educated at Washington State University and completed the Cornell University Executive Program.  Mike is a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers.

Laurie Denham

Prior to coming to AST&L, Mrs. Denham founded The Choice, Inc. a temporary staffing company. For 15 years she served as president and CEO building the company to a mid–sized corporation. Her additional experience includes business development, training, marketing, corporate re-organization, and administration. Mrs. Denham has also served as a consultant to businesses seeking new product development. She has served on the board’s of the DeSisto School, and the Junior League of Washington and was president of the National Capitol Area chapter of the National Human Resources Association. Mrs. Denham holds a Masters Degree from the University of Tennessee.

Pilar M. Dieter

Pilar Dieter serves as Director for Alaris Consulting’s China Organization. Her focus is on logistics, global trade management and technology for foreign companies in China. She has 10 years of industry expertise serving companies supply chain divisions through software implementations and business process re-engineering efforts.
Following her time at Accenture Consulting, emerging companies striving to achieve niche technology offerings sought Pilar’s consulting services. As Director of Professional Services at TradeBeam (formerly Qiva, Inc.), she led cross-continent teams in delivering supply chain tools and improved processes to global customers. As Director of Product Management at Embarcadero Systems Corporation, she worked with ocean ports and rail terminals in innovating next generation technical solutions to streamline global logistics processes active in major ports around the world today.

Ms. Dieter graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with degrees in International Political Science and Public Policy.

Eric A. Friedlander
Managing Director- Asia, YRC Logistics

Mr. Friedlander has finance and M and A experience in the international and domestic logistics industry, derived from 23 years of increasingly responsible positions and assignments. He has strong track record in completing numerous successful acquisitions, from strategy formulation, analysis and deal negotiation thru integration.

Mr. Friedlander graduated from University of California at Berkeley, got MA degree on Asian Studies, he can speak fluent Mandarin.

Wei Gao
Special cargo manager, Air China Express

Mr. Gao Wei was born in 1967. He was graduated from CAAC Technical Training Institute with an Cargo Management Diploma in 1987. Mr. Gao has been in airline business since 1988, holding manager positions in cargo field in Air China. Since 1998 Mr. Gao is senior manger of Air China Express at Beijing Capital Airport. He is also specialized in special cargo service, e.g. Live animals, dangerous goods and valuable cargo transportation.

Bruce Harsh
Director Distribution and Supply Chain Team, U.S. Department of Commerce, International Trade Administration

Bruce Harsh leads the Distribution and Supply Chain Team in the Office of Service Industries for the Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration (ITA).  He manages all sectoral team activities concerning policy development, export trade advocacy, and industry analysis on distribution and supply chain matters.  He is also the Designated Federal Officer for the Industry Trade Advisory Committee on Distribution Services (ITAC 5) and the Department of Commerce’s representative on the Federal Advisory Committee on International Postal and Delivery Services. 

During his tenure with ITA, Mr. Harsh was responsible for the following sectors:  advertising, direct marketing, direct selling, e-commerce, express delivery, franchising, retailing, and wholesaling.  Last year, Mr. Harsh represented the Department of Commerce regarding services issues being raised at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation’s Senior Officials Meetings and represented the United States regarding postal financial services interests at the Universal Postal Union’s World Congress.  He also was part of the negotiation teams for the Services Group of the Free Trade Area of the Americas, Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between US and other countries such as Panama, Andean Community, Central America, Dominican Republic and Chile, and the General Agreement on Trade in Services for World Trade Organization negotiations. Mr. Harsh has led and developed trade missions throughout the world, including the Commerce’s first ever retailing and franchising trade mission to China and a direct marketing mission to Europe.

Prior to joining the U.S. Department of Commerce in 1985, he worked in the private sector for a Fortune 100 Company.  Mr. Harsh received undergraduate degrees in Economics and Political Science from the University of Richmond.  He received his master’s degree in International Transactions from George Mason University, including a graduate level study program at Oxford University.

Wenhui Li
Director-General of Shanghai Municipal Transport and Port Authority

Li Wenhui, male, born in 1960, postgraduate of State Administrative Institute, advanced studies at the University of Illinois in Chicago, USA from 1995 to 1996, Senior economist. Mr. Li became Director of Shanghai Exit-Entry Administration in Jun.1998. He was appointed Deputy Director of Shanghai Municipal Port Administrative Bureau in Jan. 2003. He was transferred to Shanghai Construction and Transportation Commission and appointed Deputy Director in Aug. 2005. He has been Director of Shanghai Urban Transport Bureau since 2006.12 and Party Secretary of Shanghai Municipal Transport and Port Authority since Nov. 2008. And Mr. Li Wenhui has been elected as the Board Chairman of China Public Transport Society since 2007.

Michelle (Chengdong) Liu

Michelle Liu was appointed Director, International Service in May 2006 and serves as the Chief Representative for BNSF Railway Company’s office in Shanghai, China.

Prior to this position, Liu served as Manager, International Intermodal Marketing at the company’s headquarters in Ft. Worth, Texas, U.S.A. Liu began her career with BNSF in January 2001 as Senior Database Analyst in the Technology Services Department.

Liu received a Master of Science in Information Technology from the University of North Texas, and a Master of Arts in Cultural Anthropology from the University of South Carolina. Liu also received a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Culture from Ocean University of China and a Bachelor of Arts in Intercultural Communications and International Politics from Beijing University.

Born and raised in China, Liu also served in various leadership roles at organizations in Beijing and Qingdao, China prior to coming to the United States.

Liu resides in Shanghai, China with her husband and two children.

Sanjay Malhotra

Sanjay currently heads Supply Chain for TRW Asia Pacific based at Shanghai, China.

Sanjay has worked in various areas of Supply Chain directly – Business processes transformations related to Scheduling, Ordering, Warehousing, Logistics & ERP implementation. Sanjay enjoys mentoring young supply chain talent. He was relocated to Shanghai as China Supply Chain Manager in 2002 while working in Delphi Automotive Systems & headed Supply Chain function for Asia Pacific operations since mid 2005. Recently he joined TRW Automotive, Asia Pacific to lead Supply Chain in the growing Region.

Sanjay is a Mechanical Engineer from National Institute of Technology, India. He is also a Lead Assessor Quality Systems certified from Cranfield University UK & Confederation of Indian Industries India. Sanjay holds certification in Qualified Chartered Engineer from Association of Engineers-India ; CPIM through American Production & Inventory Control Society; Qualified 6 Sigma Black Belt. He has been recognized for various ERP implementations – SAP, QAD MFGPRO, Fourth Shift during his career.

Paul Man

Paul Man is Logistics Director, APL Logistics (China). He leads APL Logistics's business and operation in North China. Paul joined APL, the sister company of APL Logistics in container shipping in 1989. He had been working in different business units including IT, Process Management, and Business Development, before he joined the logistics management team in China in 1998.

John D. Miller
International Trade Specialist, Office of Service Industries

John Miller is an International Trade Specialist with the Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration and is responsible for Retail and Direct Marketing issues.  The International Trade Administration promotes prosperity by strengthening the competitiveness of U.S. industry, promoting trade and investment, and ensuring fair trade and compliance with trade laws and agreements.  Mr. Miller is also the program manager for the Market Development Cooperator Program’s grant regarding the American Society of Transportation and Logistics’ initiative to develop logistics training and certification programs in China.
Prior to his role at the Department of Commerce Mr. Miller has represented several organizations in sales and marketing positions.  He has previously served on active duty in the United States Air Force, and continues to serve in the Air Force Reserves.  Mr. Miller has earned degrees in International Business and Marketing from the University of Colorado. 

Nicole Porter
US Department of Transportation, Senior International Transportation Specialist within the Office of the Secretary

As a Senior International Transportation Specialist within the United States Department of Transportation's Office of the Secretary, Nicole Porter works to achieve the Administration's objectives of promoting better global transportation efficiency.

In this capacity, Ms. Porter supports the implementation of Departmental cooperation and exchanges with the People's Republic of China through her extensive involvement with the creation of the U.S. - China Transportation Forum (TF). The TF was created to establish high level multi-modal transportation dialogue to address common transportation challenges and to discuss and develop productive solutions between the United States and China.

Additionally, through direct government-to-government contacts, and in coordination with U.S. business and the U.S. Commerce Department’s Advocacy Center, Ms. Porter spearheads the Department’s efforts to level the playing field for the broad spectrum of U.S. businesses seeking to export their transport related goods and services in the international market.

Ms. Porter began her tenure with the U.S. Department of Transportation as a Presidential Management Fellow in 2003. Nicole holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Houston and a Juris Doctorate from Texas Southern University's Thurgood Marshall School of Law in Houston, Texas.

Igor Rounov
General Delegate, International Road Transport Union

Born in Moscow in 1952. In 1975 he graduated from The Moscow State Institute of International Relations, faculty – international economic cooperation. After receiving Ph. D. in economics in the US and Canada Institute, (Moscow), in 1979 joined the USSR Ministry of Foreign Trade, where he was gradually promoted from senior expert to the Head of Department of International Economic Organizations. In 1991-1995 served as a Vice-president of the US – USSR Trade and Economic Council in Moscow and in New-York. In 1995-2001 worked as the Vice-President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Russia.

Since September 2001 – the Head of Permanent Delegation of the International Road Transport Union (IRU) in the CIS region. In his current capacity Mr Rounov is promoting liberalization and harmonization of road transport regulations with international law and UN based standards, developing security standards, overlooking implementation of 1975 TIR Convention on a vast geographical area. In 2008 he initiated the IRU New Eurasian Land Transport Initiative (NELTI) aimed at establishing regular commercial haulage between China, SEA and Europe along several designated routes.

Joel D. Secundy    
Deputy Assistant Secretary for Services
U.S. Department of Commerce  International Trade Administration

Mr. Secundy directs the Department of Commerce’s efforts to enhance the competitiveness of the U.S. services industries, which account for approximately 80% of the private sector economy of the United States.  In that capacity he leads his division’s efforts to develop trade policies, initiatives and programs aimed at ensuring the long term competitiveness of the U.S. services industry.  He also directs the analysis of trends affecting U.S. businesses across the full services spectrum ranging from travel and tourism to finance, logistics and supply chain. Additionally, Mr. Secundy works to ensure that U.S. businesses have competitive access to export finance through the Department of Commerce’s representation on the Export-Import Bank and the Overseas Private Investment Corporation and the World Bank.

In previous positions, Mr. Secundy worked for 17 years in the financial services industry.   Most recently he was Vice President of Russell Reynolds Associates in the New York Financial Services practice, where he  worked with  key financial services clients including consumer banking companies, financial technology firms, hedge funds, funds of funds and global private equity firms. Prior to that, he worked for Citigroup as Vice President, National Business Development Manager for Business Banking and Deputy Chief of Staff to the Chairman and CEO of Citigroup’s International Global Consumer Group.

Mr. Secundy spent the first 11 years of his career with MBNA America Bank in a variety of roles, including Vice President for Customer Satisfaction and First Vice President, Senior Account Executive for  sales, marketing and portfolio management for more than 40 of the company's oldest and largest U.S. affinity credit card programs. 

Mr. Secundy received his B.A. in Political Science from Morehouse College and his M.B.A. from Columbia Business School.

Yajun Wang

Mr. Wang is Senior Engagement Manager in the Beijing office of McKinsey & Company. He is a core member of McKinsey Transportation, Logistics & Infrastructure Practice, serving leading Chinese SOEs, MNCs, and governments in the Greater China region. He has wide experience with strategy, sales and channel, and organization topics.  Prior to joining McKinsey, he worked for Dow Chemicals and United Technologies in the US.

Dan is honored to serve in a volunteer capacity as the Director of Sponsorship Sales for the USA National Pavilion at the 2010 Shanghai World Expo.  Prior to joining the USA Pavilion team, Dan served as the General Manager in Shanghai for Valassis, a $2.5 billion American marketing Services organization.  Before coming to China, Dan held sales and business unit leadership positions in software, telecommunications, and advertising. In addition to his 15+years of work experience, Dan has a B.A. from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX, an M.A. in History from the University of Vermont, and an M.B.A. from the University of Connecticut.  He lives in Shanghai with his wife and three year old daughter.

Martin Winchell

Martin Winchell is the Managing Director-Greater China for Schneider Logistics Inc.. Winchell is responsible for leading the operations of the three business units headquartered in China; Schneider Enterprise Consultancy (Shanghai) Co. Ltd. which offers logistics & supply chain consulting services, Schneider Global Logistics (Tianjin) Co. Ltd. which offers international freight forwarding services and Schneider Logistics (Tianjin) Co. Ltd. which offers logistics and transportation management services for the domestic Chinese market.

Prior to joining Schneider Logistics in February 2001, Winchell was assistant vice president of a privately-held transportation organization where he created a licensed freight forwarder and international consulting firm. The firm specialized in agriculture products, letter of credit financing, and project cargo.
In addition, Winchell has several years of experience in project cargo and government aid projects, including turnkey management of multi-million dollar projects in Asia, Africa and the Middle East that were sponsored by various governmental agencies including Ex-Im Bank.

Winchell has bachelor’s degree in international economics from the University of Wyoming.

Jing Xiong

From 1992 to 2005, Xiongjing worked in TCL Household Appliance Marketing Co.,Ltd as a chief of sales planning department and production planning department, sales director of northeast China, east China and south China. Xiongjing has  over ten years sales experience and rich knowledge of electric appliance industry , and was professional in enterprise management and enterprise strategy.

In October of 2006, Xiongjing was appointed to be general manager of  SPEED Logistics Service Co,.Ltd. During acting as a pilot and innovator, he framed new operaional strategy which aims at turning the company into high-respected and most innovative leading enterprise in logistics service.

Xiongjing acquired International Logistician Qualification Certificate in 2007 and received SMBA degree and excellent  papers award in Overseas Education School of Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2008.

During 2008-2009, Xiongjing assumed the office of vice president of 2008-2009 CSCMP in China.

Beihua Yu

Mr. Yu is guest professor of Shanghai Jiatong University and is a major speaker of Ingersoll Rand University for leadership, Marketing, Lean Six Sigma and recurring revenue. He’s active in sharing his knowledge and best practice to his customers, most of which are the leaders in state owed companies and private companies. They benefit a lot from William’s speech and began to implement LSS methodology in their own corporations. Some of them have significant achievement. Besides, Mr. William Yu was invited as key speaker for several international summit and EMBAs & MBAs of Shanghai Fudan and Shanghai Jiatong University. He published over 10 management articles on trade journal such as “China Quality”, “General Machinery”, “Modern Manufacture” and “Compressor”. His 1st book about Lean Sigma (from Strategy to Execution) has been published in March, 2009 and his 2nd book about Standard Work will be published in this September.

Mr. Zhao Zhenge, graduated from Nankai University with a Master degree in 1989. He was a visiting fellow of the Asia Pacific Leadership Program in East West Center , Hawaii in the fall of 2002. Mr. Zhao entered the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade(CCPIT) in 1989, and then served in the Commercial Office, Chinese Embassy in Estonia from 1992 to 1994. Mr. Zhao became Deputy Director of the Division of American & Oceanian Affairs, Department of International Relations, CCPIT in 1996, Director of the Division in 1999. Mr. Zhao was appointed as Deputy Director General of the Department in December 2004. Mr. Zhao Zhenge was appointed as the Standing Member of the Honghe Hani & Yi Autonomous Prefectural Committee, CPC in July 2007, and then was elected as a Lieutenant Governor of Honghe Hani & Yi Autonomous Prefecture in August 2007, and succeeded in the election as a Lieutenant Governor in February 2008. He is a Deputy(Congressman) of the People’s Congress of Honghe Hani & Yi Autonomous Prefecture, elected in January 2008.

He was Director of the Leading Working Group for the Development of Tourism Economy in Honghe, and  also Deputy Director of the Leading Application Committee of Yuanyang Hani Terrace Rice Fields for Being Listed as World Natural and Cultural Heritage of UNESCO. He mainly focuses on the cultural, tourism, P.E. and media affairs as well as the development of the cultural and tourism industries in Honghe.
He is appointed as Deputy Director General of the Exhibition Department and deputy Director General of Exhibition Administration Office, CCPIT in July 2009.

Mr. Zhao was a Board Member of China-U.S. People's Association for Friendship and the China-Oceania Friendship Association. He was Director General of PBEC (Pacific Basin Economic Council) China Member Committee, Director General of ABAC (APEC Business Advisory Council) China, to name just a few.
