William O'Brien
President, Greater Asia of HAVI Logistics

WILLIAM O'BRIEN has been the President, Greater China of HAVI Food Service since 1999,he has been promoted to be the President, Greater Asia of HAVI Logistics on Feb of 2008. WILLIAM O'BRIEN is also the chair person of the Transportation & Logistics Forum by the American Chamber of China at present. He took the position as General Manager, Distribution Division, Husi Food Company from 1994 till 1999. Prior to that, he was with H.B. Fuller. Before joining that firm, he was the executive director of a consulting operation in the US Midwest and human resources director for the Schlumberger drilling operation in the South China Sea. Fluent in Mandarin, he was a Fulbright scholar in Beijing in the early 1980s studying Chinese intellectual history. He has also studied in Taiwan. Mr O'Brien earned B.A. and M.A. degrees at Kean State College and the State University of New York at Buffalo, respectively. Ken Bryan
Supply Chain and Customer Services Director, Asia Pacific The Dow Chemical Company

Dow chemical was selected to be the sustainable development leader in global chemical industry by Dow Jones Global Sustainable Development Index, since 2000.

Mr. Ken Bryan is the Supply Chain and Customer Services director for the Asia Pacific region. Bryan has regional Supply Chain responsibilities for operations and Dow¡¯s Plastics businesses¡¯ needs, in addition to the company¡¯s Customer Services function.
Bryan joined Dow in the USA in 1989 and worked in STYROFOAM and Epoxy manufacturing in Torrance, California and Joliet, Illinois. He moved to Rheinm¨¹nster, Germany in 1997, and worked in manufacturing, new business development and marketing for Dow¡¯s Epoxy business. He returned to the USA in 2003 as Supply Chain director for Environmental Operations, and added EO-EG supply chain responsibility in 2004. Bryan relocated to Shanghai in 2005 as Supply Chain Operations director for Asia Pacific. He added responsibility for Asia Pacific Customer Services in 2006 and for Asia Pacific Plastics Supply Chain in 2007.

Bryan earned bachelors and masters degrees in mechanical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
 

 

 

 

 

Cai Guofeng
Director-General of Exhibition Department, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade

Mr. Cai Guofeng was born in Beijing on February 20th, 1962. He graduated from Beijing International Studies University (BISU).
From 1984 to 2003, Mr. Cai acted as the Deputy Director General and the Director General of International Department of All-China Youth Federation (ACYF), the Deputy Director of China Youth Center for International Personnel Exchanges(CYCIPE), Deputy Secretary-General of National Students' Union of China(NSUC), director of Chinese Association for the Promotion of International Scientific and Peace, and member of Expert Board Committee.
From 2003 to 2004, he served as the deputy director of the edit and study center of China Foreign Bereau, deputy director of China International Communication and Study Center, and deputy secretary-general of Translators Association of China.

Chen Zhengcai
Senior Engineer and Director of Transportation and Safety Section of Department of Waterway Transportation


Mr. Chen Zhengcai graduated from the Shanghai Maritime University and Nankai University. He is a M.A. of Economics. Twenty years ago, he was assigned by Chinese government to Japan to study port management for one year. Throughout his career, He also as an engineer worked in Lianyungang Port for a long time. He is currently the senior engineer and director of transportation and safety section of Department of Waterway Transportation under the Ministry of transport of China. He has been applying himself to policy studying in waterway transportation and the port administration, especially in transport of dangerous goods and logistics and port management. He has himself unique views. He participated to draft out many laws and regulations on transport of dangerous goods and management of waterway transportation. Shelton Chan

Previous As the Project Manager of Operation and finance Department of L'Oreal, Mr. Chan is responsible for the planning and implementating the new automated logistics facility in Taiwan which covers more then 3000 distribution channels.
Mr. Chan has 12 years of Asia Pacific sales and management experience, specializing in global logistics, distribution and supply chain IT solution design. Most recently, Mr. Chan was the Logistics Development Manager at Exel,Mr. Chan plays a key role in the development of the contract logistics market for high tech, automotive, Pharmaceutical, and consumer manufacturing sectors, with special focus on Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), retail, apparel, and Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industries.
He was a member of the Review Board of e-Logistics working Group funded by the Taiwan government. He currently serves as the District Director for Society of International Logistics (SOLE), Taiwan Chapter. Her additional experience includes business development, training, marketing, corporate re-organization, and administration. Mrs. Denham has also served as a consultant to businesses seeking new product development. She has served on the board¡¯s of the DeSisto School, and the Junior League of Washington and was president of the National Capitol Area chapter of the National Human Resources Association. Mr. Desmond Gay joined DTW Logistics in July 2007 as Chief Executive Officer based in Beijing, China. He has held senior positions in Deustche Post AG since 2000, first as Vice President, Integrated Logistics Services, Asia Pacific based in Singapore for the Danzas AEI Freight Forwarding business unit; and later as Senior Vice President, Greater China for the DHL Exel Supply Chain business unit based in Shanghai, China. A highly respected logistics professional, Mr Gay is a Singaporean and has over 15 years of experience in the logistics and transportation industry in Asia Pacific. David Gossack is Principal Commercial Officer at the U.S. Consulate in Shanghai. He previously served as Commercial Attache at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing from 2003-2007, in Bangkok from 1999-2002, and in Tokyo from 1995-1999. He is the recipient of numerous awards from the Department of Commerce. Kamal Latham

Kamal I. Latham is Chief Operating Officer and General Manager for China of Diplomatic Treatment Corporate Concierge, LLC, a U.S.-based destination management and strategic consulting company with a Representative Office in Beijing. Mr. Latham was a career United States Diplomat from 2000-2008 and last served at U.S. Embassy Beijing as Deputy Chief of the Trade and Transportation Policy Unit in the Economic Affairs Section. During his tenure in Beijing, Mr. Latham helped secure agreements facilitating increased trade flows between the United States and China. In 2008, he led Embassy negotiations with China¡¯s Ministry of Transport which produced the Joint Declaration on Transportation Cooperation and established the U.S.-China Transportation Forum. Mr. Latham received the U.S. Department of State¡¯s Meritorious Honor Award for his role in negotiating the 2007 Air Services Agreement between the United States and China, which was estimated to stimulate $5 billion in new business for U.S. airlines. He was a recipient of a Group Meritorious Honor Award for his efforts to secure the 2007 Tourism Agreement, which facilitated group leisure travel from China to America and removed prohibitions on U.S. destinations marketing themselves in China. Mr. Latham previously served as the Finance and Investment Policy Advisor at the U.S. Mission to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Paris, France and as a Vice Consul at the U.S. Consulate-General in Shenyang, China. Mr. Duane A. Pfund serves as the Director, Office of International Standards for the Office of Hazardous Materials Safety, Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration, U.S. Department of Transportation.Mr. Pfund has been with the International Office since December 2001, becoming the Director in July 2006. The Office of International Standards represents the United States at the United Nations Sub-Committee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods and the Sub-Committee of Experts on the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals; the International Civil Aviation Organization¡¯s Dangerous Goods Panel; the International Maritime Organization¡¯s Sub-Committee on Dangerous Goods, Solid Cargoes, and Containers; and the Economic Commission for Europe¡¯s Joint Meeting of the RID Committee of Experts and the Working Party on the Transport of Dangerous Goods. Mr. Pfund participates in international hazardous materials safety forums and is responsible for promoting harmonization of U.S. Hazardous Materials Regulations with international regulations.The Office of International Standards works closely with government, transportation and technology industry experts to develop and implement efficient multi-modal hazardous materials safety regulations.
Mr. Pfund has 20 years of hazardous material packaging and transportation safety experience.Prior to coming to the Department of Transportation, he was a leading hazardous materials transportation and customs expert with the Department of Defense, United States Air Force stationed at Wright Patterson Air Force Base Ohio and the Pentagon in Washington DC.He has extensive experience in working with the transportation and technology industries, packaging test facilities, material distribution facilities, training organizations, and other governmental organizations.

Larry Trebesch

Larry Trebesch is Savi Networks¡¯ General Manager of China based in Shanghai. Mr. Trebesch is responsible for leading Savi Network¡¯s business development, product development, government affairs, and expansion efforts in China. Later, in Silicon Valley, California he served as both product manager and manager of strategic business development at , at the time the world¡¯s largest Broadband Network service and content provider.
Mr. Trebesch has been a key member of the Savi Networks¡¯ management team since 2002, focused on launching and building the company¡¯s China business as well as developing worldwide network access and distribution partnerships with global port operators. He is an active member of the China supply chain community and a frequent speaker at international and China based technology and supply chain conferences.

Mr. Wang Jinzhen is Vice Chairman of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and Vice Chairman of China Chamber of International Commerce (CCOIC).

Mr. Wang Jinzhen joined CCPIT in 1979 and has held different positions. He was Deputy Director of China International Economic and Technical Cooperation Consultants Inc, and later Deputy Director-General and Director-General of Department of International Relations, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade. He became Assistant Chairman, Deputy Secretary General, Spokesman of CCPIT in 2004, Secretary-General of CCPIT in June, 2006, General Director of the General Office in July, 2006. He is also Secretary General of International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) China Committee since 1998.

He is now Chief delegate of China to Bureau of International Exhibitions (BIE) and the member of the Organizing Committee for World Expo2010 Shanghai, China. He is also member of Business Advisory Council of United Nations Economic and Society Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) and member of China¡ªIndia Eminent Persons¡¯ Group.

John Wu

Dr. Haw-Jan ¡°John¡± Wu is the Director of the Federal DOT funded Leonard Transportation Center at CSU San Bernardino. Before joining CSUSB, he was a tenured professor at CSU Monterey Bay. He also received tenure at Whittier College. Dr. Wu received his Ph.D.in business logistics and marketing from the Pennsylvania State University and an M.A. in international management from the University of Texas. He has worked with global companies such as HSBC, Sony, ZPMC, Citibank. Dr. Wu specializes in transportation system efficiency, supply chain integration, and Asian management. His research in supply chain integration, green transportation, international business, and management education has been published in a number of journals including JBL, IJPDLM, and TRF.

George Zhao

George brings over twenty years of supply chain and logistics experience. He currently supervises company¡¯s external as well as internal consulting/engineering efforts.

George previously worked as the Vice President of supply chain for a multinational retailer responsible for its whole China supply chain development with various projects to help company¡¯s rapid expansion in China including supply chain collaboration program and vendors¡¯ management to meet delivery requirement, DC network setup and supply chain strategy development. Prior to that senior strategic role, George worked for a multinational 3PL in both operation and consulting roles, by setting up new green field distribution centers and lead a large operation and implementation team as well. George also had over seven years of working experience in Australia for multinational companies.

George earned his Bachelor of Science in Economics from Shanghai Maritime University and a Master of Business (logistics management) from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in Australia.
 

 

John Zhao

Mr. Zhao started his career in 1991. He was Senior representative of American Jencraft Corporation Ltd. Shanghai Office for 6 years. From 1997 to1999 he served as Operation manager of Shanghai Ek-Chor Trading Company (Distribution Center). From 1999 to 2003 he worked in Australia and served as Logistics Manager of Bloom Pty Ltd and then assumed the position of Logistics Manager in Ashdene Manufacturing Pty Ltd from 2003 to 2005. From 2006 until now Mr. Zhao is National Operation Manager of Metro Group Logistics (China). He is responsible for logistics operation management for Metro¡¯s temporary controlled DCs and 37 stores within China. He holds Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering from Shanghai Maritime University and Post-Graduate Diploma in Information Technology from Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne, Australia.

 

 

 

 

Zhong Weilin

Mr Zhong now served as Secretary of the Party Working Committee and Director of Administrative Committee of Shanghai Pudong New District Waigaoqiao Function Area. He is also the Deputy Director of Shanghai Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone Administrative Committee, the Deputy Secretary-general of China Free Trade Export Association and President of Shanghai Pudong Modern Logistics Industry Association.

Mr Zhong has 30 years¡¯ experience in port industry and 10 years¡¯ experience in free trade management. Mr Zhong attended and hosted many national-wide logistics industrial conference and his logistics subject papers have been published by many kinds of journals. Mr. Zhong headed the first free trade park pilot project in China, which turned out to be huge success and had great impact on logistics industry.
 

Zhou Shouqin
Professional Senior Engineer, Director of CIMC Smart and Security Research Center

Dr. Zhou was graduated from Xi¡¯an Jiaotong University, China and obtained Ph.D. degree in engineering in 2001. From 2001 to 2002, he had worked in City University of Hong Kong as a Research Assistant. From 2002 to 2004, he had worked in Queensland University of Technology, Australia as a Post-doctoral Research Fellow. And from 2004 to 2007, he has worked in James Cook University, Australia as a Post-doctoral Research Fellow. In May 2004, he resigned from James Cook University and took position in China International Marine Containers (Group) LTD. (CIMC) as a senior engineer. Now, he is the chief engineer of CIMC in intelligent technology. Currently, Dr.Zhou is focusing in research and applications of intelligentization and informationization of containers and transportation equipments.

 

 

 

 

Mabel Zhuang
China Representative of the Global Cold Chain Alliance

Mabel Zhuang served for more than ten years with the U.S. Department of Agriculture¡¯s Foreign Agricultural Service and USDA cooperators, owning rich experience in the food marketing and the association operation. Since 2007, she has become the China representative of the Global Cold Chain Alliance which represents four core partners: International Association of Refrigerated Warehouses (IARW), World Food Logistics Organization (WFLO), International Refrigerated Transportation Association (IRTA), and International Association for Cold Storage Construction (IACSC). Ms. Zhuang is in charge of the overall operations of the Alliance in China and also responsible for the membership development and the cold chain industry relations.

Previously, Ms. Zhuang served as an Agricultural Specialist with the U.S. Agricultural Trade Office of the U.S. Consulate General in Shanghai, identifying trade opportunities for American food and forest products companies and organizing a wide spectrum of marketing activities.
